Okay, much
shorter today, as expected. Mid-morning we got a taxi down to the waterfront
precinct. It’s so hot that I expected it to be busy, with kids in the wavepool
and things like that. But I’d forgotten about the whole wet season thing; it
was almost deserted and a number of the cafes were closed for another month or
so.
Then we
walked up to the mall and the city centre. At least this was a bit busier and
we found a cool place to stop and have a drink before getting a taxi the embarrassingly
short distance back to our hotel.
That’s
really about it. In the afternoon we hung out at the rooftop bar and ate free
food again. We watched some rain in the distance but nothing that reached us.
And we watched the ships come and go. There are lots of industrial facilities
scattered around Darwin Harbour, though it’s a bit disorienting and hard to
work out what is where.
That’s
about it for today. Tomorrow is likely to be similar.
